ABOUT ANCIENT ARTISANS ®

In the beginning there was THE SHAPE OF LIES®   An artist run company born in an East Village storefront January first 1979.

For twenty years our passion for the antique grew along with the number of museum stores interested in our creations.  The Eureka moment came in 1998 when ANCIENT ARTISANS® was formed as a design company catering to those special people who feel the magic of museums deep in their very souls.

Both entities are going strong still located in the original shop on East 7th Stree in Manhatten.   

THE SHAPE OF LIES®  shop showcases emerging designers who produce their work in the New York area.  ANCIENT ARTISANS® is in the shop as well as this online site.
